Aleion Baal

Aleion Baal
   In Ugarit myth the son of Baal. He represented an intermediary stage between men and gods, in that in his father’s age-long fight with Mot both adversaries are killed, only to be resurrected to continue the fight. Aleion is god of the clouds, winds, and rain. He is accompanied by a troop of wild animals, including eight bears. He is god of spring, and possibly that of winter or air. On one occasion he joins with Koseret-Hasis against his father and is defeated, for which deed he is reproached by Ashtart. Further details are given under Phoenician Creation Legends.
